Bluebell Lives!!

Daises v lawnmower = score draw

In is necessary each year , along with the dozen or so tortoises that my wife has bred, to coax bluebell, our VW camper van – pictured here – out of hibernation.  The weather needs to be warm, which is is today and Bluebell has  successfully awakened and taken various children to various friends this morning.  My son James knows the the van is really cool, whereas my daughter Charlie believes her social life will be over for ever if she is ever seen even near it.  The fact that her friends also believe it to be cool makes no difference.  At 41 years old, she is younger than me, and a bit prettier and in the 18 months we have had her, we have only ever overtaken 1 vehicle, a cherry picker.  My other picture shows the compromise I reached with the daisies yesterday, the lawnmower took most of those babies out but some survived, at least until I get some more petrol…  Now I could have played golf today, but a barbeque beckoned, but talking of golf I have had a rather intemperate outburst from one of my “friends” Paul North who advises me that he has beaten me at golf the last 2 times we have played, and relieved me of some cash along the way, however he is in no way ashamed of his girls handicap of 28, which for non golfers amongst you means that I have to give him 15 shots start, despite him being at least 15 years younger than me.  You may very well think that he should wear a blouse and play from the ladies tee (actually he often does, his second shot..) but I coud not posssibly comment, except to say that with his taste in shirts, (in fact his taste in anything) a blouse might be a move forward! pip pip!

By the way, we rent the house out in summer, anyone interested should have a look at http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p412514

Dear fellow suffers of this dribble that keeps arriving on my computer,

I write this in the hope that Chris doesn’t get to see it, I think the story I have to tell may crush him.

Some time ago I decided to take on some charity work and was appointed an elderly gentleman who lived in our village. I was ready to stop the work after our first meeting but we then met his charming wife and family and I stayed on for the sake of them. When I first met Chris and Issy they reminded me of dirty old man Bruce Forsyth and his beautiful ex Miss Venezula wife, my first thought of course was she was there for the money but that soon became obviously not the case as Chris as we all know probably the tightest man we have all met and I have had to remind him rationing is over. Thats what happens when you are in your mid twenties during the war.

So my charity role was to give Chris money without him realising he was recieving handouts, my cunning plan was to purposly lose to him at golf. I am an accomplished golfer and I have found this extremely difficult because lets be honest Chris is hopeless. I have tried everything , giving myself a large handicap to try and make it less obvious and even devoping an over exaggerated slice but still I keep winning.

On one of the last visits to the third world country he now lives in we tried a different tactic and my wife tried to lose to him for money at tennis again to no avail, she enjoyed an easy victory and again we all had to witness the painful act of Chris having to part with money , all those who have seen this will know it is extremely unpleasent and I asked my children to leave, suffer not the children.

I am growing more concerned about Chris, yes the physical problems are obvious for all to see and hes never been the sharpest tool in the box but on my last visit I noticed one of the classic signs of an elderly man, he seems to be able to shave properly and he had left a scraggy tuft of hair above one of many chins.

I know we all have a soft spot for this eccentric old fool, but the more we help him the less he helps himself. I am sure many of you will wish to share your thoughts on Chris now one of us has broke rank and said what we were all thinking.

Its Issy and the kids I feel sorry for !!
